Children’s Wish Receives Record $102,000 Corporate Donation from Winnipeg’s DMT

For the second year in a row, The Children’s Wish Foundation, Manitoba & Nunavut Chapter met with the staff of DMT Development Systems Group Inc. (DMT), a global IT solutions provider for the automotive industry headquartered on the University of Manitoba campus, where they presented the Foundation with a cheque for $102,225, once again marking the largest corporate donation in the Chapter’s history.

“Last year DMT went from an unknown to our largest corporate donor overnight. To have beaten their own record and done it again this year is absolutely unbelievable. The company’s and their team’s commitment to giving back have taken their efforts above and beyond a traditional internal fundraising campaign,” said Maria Toscano, Director of Children’s Wish Foundation, Manitoba & Nunavut Chapter. “When corporations lend their support to this worthy cause, it’s a win-win situation. Helping children fulfill a wish is not only a wonderfully rewarding experience, it is also a powerful reflection of a company’s brand. Good deeds speak volumes about ‘corporate character’. It’s about the unselfish, unsung effort that embraces the fundamental spirit of caring and the deep desire to make a difference.”

The cheque presented to The Children’s Wish Foundation will cover a number of local wishes for children living with high-risk life threatening illnesses. Support of this calibre makes a large difference for these children as The Children’s Wish Foundation receives no government funding.

For the past 13 years, DMT has been running an internal program known as “Payroll for the Needy”, selecting one charity per year as part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the community. The funds, driven by voluntary employee pledges which are then deducted from their payroll, are matched by DMT. Since the program’s inception, DMT has seen an astonishing 100% participation rate among its staff while supporting charities such as the Salvation Army, Christmas Cheer Board, Winnipeg Harvest, Children’s Hospital Foundation, and The Children’s Wish Foundation.

“This campaign would not be possible without the unparalleled generosity and sense of community that our staff bring to the table. The results leave me feeling incredibly proud of the initiative displayed to help those who truly need it. We hope that our results serve as encouragement for other companies to develop similar campaigns to give back to their communities,” said Glen Demetrioff, President & CEO of DMT Development Systems Group Inc. “Many can’t believe what we’ve been able to accomplish given the size of our team but when many rally behind a cause as one, amazing things happen. The Children’s Wish Foundation’s work hits home with our team and makes going the extra mile an easy decision.”
